Information Security During the COVID-19 Pandemic

As we continue to take measures to protect our families and communities against the spread of the COVID-19 virus, many cybercriminals are taking advantage of the situation to send false communication in the form of phishing emails. The purpose of these emails is to trick the recipient into taking action, such as submitting personal and financial information.

As part of those campaigns, malicious actors may use the Agency’s name, stating:

  • Your account has been disabled and requires some personal information to be sent to update and re-activate;
  • Personal information is required to receive isolation benefits;
  • Online Payment is required for the COVID-19 exam at home.

It is crucial that you remain vigilant and do not respond to personal information requests made via emails. It would be best if you always remembered;

  • The Agency will never request personal or financial information via email;
  • You should not click on any COVID-19 related links or attachments you receive via email or messaging apps. This caution includes messages to personal email providers like Gmail;
  • Do not be fooled by legitimate-looking branding on the messages you receive. Cybercrimes will also often use language that conveys a sense of urgency, so be alert;
  • You should not put your credentials into third-party sites unless you are 100% sure you’re on the right site;

We encourage you To be safe And follow all guidelines given by the government And health professionals.
